Australian Customs and Border Protection
As we were sailing across the Pacific, we heard some evil stories about the Australian Customs and Border Protection of Brisbane: mean officers, exorbitant controls, drug hounds, divers …
We sailed into Moreton Bay and to Rivergate Marina despite of all these rumours as we have good friends here, and we could not believe all this.
And we were right:
We met the most friendly officers, it was a real pleasure to do the clearance and to talk to them for a while getting explained everything we were asking.
We immediately told other crews in New Caledonia and they followed our wake some weeks later, experiencing the same friendly welcome.
So, no worries: Brisbane is a great place with lots to see around Moreton Bay.
